Two New Records for the Fish Fauna of Simenlik-Akgöl Lagoon in Yeşilırmak River Basin (Samsun-Turkey)

In this study, two new freshwater fish species, Gambusia holbrooki Girard, 1859 and Petroleuciscus borysthenicus (Kessler, 1859) were reported from Simenlik-Akgöl Lagoon in Yeşilırmak Basin (Samsun). Turkey has a rich biodiversity terms of fish. Because climate change, periodic ichthyofauna monitoring updating fauna are critical. holbrooki, Eastern mosquitofish, is an invasive species widespread range because biological struggle against mosquitoes many water sources. However, simultaneously feeding with eggs presents significant threat to biodiversity. And also, borysthenicus, Dnieper chub, small bodied-fish the genus wide range. chub mosquitofish assessed as Least Concern (LC) according IUCN criteria. The minimum maximum total lengths P. G. 4.5 cm-5.7 cm 2.5 cm-5.3 cm, respectively. results study reveal that existence been recorded for Lagoon, distribution area both these have reached different location Basin.
